Montserrat's flag, popular among volcano-documentary and Caribbean-history enthusiasts, since much of the island was buried by the Soufrière Hills volcano's eruptions starting in 1995. It carries the Union Jack plus a coat of arms depicting a woman embracing a cross and harp, a nod to the island's strong Irish settler heritage — Montserrat is sometimes called the 'Emerald Isle of the Caribbean.'
