The male-gendered version of the frowning person, used identically for expressing distress, disapproval, or mild despair. It exists mainly so composers can specify gender in a sentence about a specific man. Trivia: gendered splits like this were added in Unicode 9.0 (2016) largely at the request of platform vendors wanting parity with how they'd already begun coding male/female skin-tone variants elsewhere.
