Coconut is a beach-and-tropics staple — piña coladas, palm trees, island vacation captions — and its brown hairy shell with a simple face-like pattern of three dots (from the natural germination pores) has made it a favorite for playful, almost cartoonish fruit-with-a-face jokes. It joined Unicode in 2017, notably later than many everyday fruits.
