Blueberries arrived relatively recently (Unicode 13, 2020) as part of a wave of long-overdue fruit and vegetable additions, filling a gap that berry-lovers and health-food posters had noted for years. It's mostly used literally — smoothies, muffins, antioxidant jokes — and its cluster-of-small-dots design (unlike the single-fruit convention) makes it visually distinct among fruit emoji.
