A wristwatch used both literally (time-check, 'gotta run') and as slang for 'it's about time' or countdown urgency — a common addition to 'running late' captions. It's also one of the very few emoji whose original Japanese carrier design (a simple analog watch face) has stayed almost unchanged since the 1990s.
