The biohazard symbol — three overlapping circles representing a threatening organism, used to mean actual biological danger but far more often online as slang for a gross mess, a chaotic person, or disgustingly good spicy food ("this ramen is ☣️"). It was designed in 1966 by Dow Chemical engineer Charles Baldwin specifically because it was memorable, meaningless out of context, and symmetric from any rotation — deliberately abstract so it wouldn't trigger false associations.
