Curry rice is used broadly for Japanese-style curry (a distinct, milder dish from Indian curry) as well as curry dishes generally; it was part of the original 2010 Unicode set and its design — rice with a thick brown sauce — reflects the specifically Japanese curry-rice tradition rather than South Asian curry.
