Broccoli straddles two very different reputations: it's the poster-vegetable for healthy eating, but also the classic symbol for food kids refuse to eat, giving it built-in comedic value in parenting jokes ('finally got them to eat broccoli'). Introduced in Unicode 9 (2016), its tree-like green floret shape is one of the more recognizable vegetable silhouettes in the set.
