The registered trademark symbol (®), used literally for legally registered brand marks, and jokingly online to declare something as one's signature move or catchphrase ("the eye-roll ®"). Legally, in the US it can only be used once a trademark is officially registered with the USPTO — using it prematurely is technically misleading.
